I was born in Lubbock, TX, into a family whose parents knew and loved Christ. At the time, my father was serving in the Air Force. However, after concluding his service there, we moved to California. There he participated in the Discipleship Intern Training Program (DITP) and was later commended as a missionary to Spain, which is where our family moved in 1986. Although I grew up in a home where Christ and the gospel were the center of life, it was not until my late 20s that I personally came to know Christ.
As a teenager and then as a young adult, my life had been an elaborate façade to convince my family and the church that I also was a believer. But on the inside, I had an empty, miserable existence with no happiness at all. All this changed radically when I came to know Christ and His love and forgiveness in a personal way. I now have a passion to make Him known to those who are searching for more in life, and to help those Christians lost in the routine of life take a new, fresh look at our Savior.
I have since been involved in the local church in Carabanchel, Madrid, back in Spain. There I had the opportunity to lead Bible study groups and do some mentoring with young believers. I was also in the leadership team of a Bible camp in Segovia, Spain, as well as a member of the Coro Gospel de Madrid (gospel choir) for three years. I´ve been able to participate in short overseas mission trips to Morocco, Croatia, Hungary, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Last year (2016-2017) I completed the DITP at Freeway Bible Chapel in Lubbock, TX, where the Lord has led me to stay and serve for the time being.
Come Awake´s Spanish project provides a great way to minister to all Spanish speakers, not only here in the U.S., but all over the world! I hope the posts will help awake a new love and desire to serve Christ in those who already know Him and draw those who don’t know Him toward a personal relationship with Christ.
