Jenie Hand

I was born as the youngest of three children in Houston, Texas. I grew up in church for most of my life and have enjoyed seeing the growth of my home church over the past several years. My father has been an elder for as long as I can remember and my mother has always been a strong student of the Word of God. With these two amazing influences in my life (along with countless uncles, aunts, and cousins) I came to know the Lord at a very young age.

I left my parents’ home at the age of 18 to attend the University of Texas at Austin. While my eyes were opened to a new way of living, I unfortunately turned to the world for “happiness.” Through it all, however, my Savior never left my side! He held onto me and never let me go, despite my shortcomings and failures. I look back at my life and am in awe of how the Lord molded me and shaped me into the woman I am today!

While at UT Austin, I played an active role in my college ministry through InterVarsity and built long-lasting relationships. After college, I pursued a degree in Social Work, primarily focusing on advocating and supporting abused and neglected children. I grew to trust in the Lord and His promises for these beautiful children and for myself. Throughout my career, the Lord has given me a desire to carry His Good News to those who are lost and are in desperate need of a Savior!

Through one of my past jobs, I met my husband, Jewel Hand. We have been married since October 2015 and attend a local assembly where we serve as Sunday school teachers to high school students. It has been a joy working with these students and watching them explore God’s Word in a challenging way. They definitely keep us on our toes and encourage us to study the Word daily with their challenging questions and thoughts! My husband and I just had our first baby in September 2017! Our prayer is that we would raise our child (and future children) in the fear of His name and that they would grow up with a desire to serve Him in all that they do!
