June Babies

A few days ago, a friend and I were looking up celebrities who shared the same birthdays as ours. Turns out I was born on the same day as Angelina Jolie, Russell Brand, Joyce Meyer and King George III. Pretty diverse group of individuals, wouldn’t you say? After spending the next hour searching for who shared a birthday with each of my family members and close friends (really… the Internet is just WAY too distracting) I sat back and took another glance over the little community I shared a birthday with. It’s so strange to think that someone like Angelina Jolie or King George III was ever once a toddler, but the truth of the matter is, all of us were there at one point or the other! So even though each of us is completely different in our own ways, the one thing we share is that we were each once babes created by a wonderfully creative God.

Whether you’ve read this passage before or not, please take a second to really soak in what it’s saying this time around:

“You made my whole being; you formed me in my mother’s body. I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way. What you have done is wonderful. I know this very well. You saw my bones being formed as I took shape in my mother’s body. When I was put together there, you saw my body as it was formed. All the days planned for me were written in your book before I was one day old.”

Psalm  139:13-16

God spent time on you. Have you ever thought about that? You’re like a living, breathing art project that God created for life! And how cool is it that He’s given us all individual passions and interests to go along with that! I may not be the best at expressing myself through art, but another one of my Come Awake sisters is! (Seriously, ask Sheba to show you some of her incredible paintings!). I also may not be the best at speaking to big crowds, but my dad does it on a regular basis, and reaches out to so many through it! I guess what I’m trying to say is that God was very intentional when He created you. We were given the desires, talents and abilities we have so that we could do awesome things for Him while staying true to the unique personalities He’s given us!

Oftentimes we think there’s a certain “type” of person who can successfully live their life for Christ. But in reality, we are ALL more than capable of doing just that! You and I won’t have the same effect on a group of people after talking with them. Have you ever thought about the fact that you may be the only one who is capable of reaching out to a certain community? Interesting, huh?

“The story of your life” wasn’t something that happened without a purpose. Every detail of even the most shameful parts of your life happened so that through that event, you could bring God glory. Isn’t it cool how He can take our worst experiences and make them into a positive display of God’s love for us?

Use the experiences you have. Don’t keep them to yourself and deprive someone who is need of your story so they can better get to know His story.

  1. Love this Jen! That was how I felt when I took a step out in faith and decided to go to Peru on a mission trip… I definitely did not feel equipped to go… But humbled and sooooo blessed when I came back… He truly can use anybody!

  2. There’s some thoughts that we had been sharing of how he made us so unique and can use us Eventhough we think we are not equipped for that.
