An Undivided Gaze
Purity of heart is an undivided gaze;
To set our minds, wholeheartedly, on Jesus Christ alone.
We would be like the dove, who’s eyes, though small, are fixed
Upon our dear Lord Jesus, the One our hearts now know.
Like Mary at Jesus’ feet, learning and waiting on Him–
Precious truths and thoughts of worship welled up inside:
The Better One we gaze on, not toil, nor circumstance;
“With The Lord” is our desire, we long for Jesus as His bride.
How undeservedly determined was Jesus on that night
When He prayed “not my will but Thine,” then suffered in our place.
So we should not–no, could not–try to justify ourselves;
Only Christ’s spotless blood could our sinfulness erase.
Refrain:
One thing we would desire as we gaze upon our Savior:
To ever trust and lean on Christ, till with Him ever after.
