Day 13 | Psalm 119:130

Featured Artist: April Mathews

The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple. | Psalm 119:130

In my life, I’ve had the distinct pleasure of seeing God’s Word come to life before my very eyes in many ways, as I’m sure many of you have and/or will. It’s an amazing experience whether you don’t know Christ, you’ve just started a relationship with Him, or you’ve known him for a very long time. It is always edifying and invigorating to embrace His Word as your own – and that is exactly what happened to me just a short while ago.

His Word gave light, it gave understanding!

April, my amazing wife, and I recently began reading through 1 John, and right off the bat we were extremely encouraged by John’s opening words to believers (Background: John writes to encourage those who believe in Christ throughout 1 John, but he writes to encourage all to take the step of faith to believe in Christ in the gospel of John):

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life – the life was made manifest, and we have seen it and testify to it and proclaim to you the external life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us | 1 John 1:1-2

He tells us that this gospel isn’t a “story.” It is something that we have seen, heard, and touched with our very hands! He goes on to explain:

By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers… Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. | 1 John 3:16,18

He tells not to just love by words, but by deed and truth as well! And by precious deed (action) did God’s love come down:

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the father, full of grace and truth. | John 1:14

Whether you believe in God or not, know that He didn’t love us with empty words, but instead He loved by action. The Word literally became action; the Word dwelt among us! He gave anyone willing to receive it light and understanding to know true love!

If you don’t believe in Him yet… you are missing out. I am here to tell you about something that I have seen! It’s something I have heard! It’s something I have touched with my very hands!

There is nothing sweeter than to know Him
i n t i m a t e l y

and that relationship is available to all.

He alone, the Word, can give light and understanding!

  1. YES! Amen, Vichanay! Thankful to know that our God desires that we would KNOW Him. He doesn’t hide Himself from us, He doesn’t make it difficult for us to know Him. All we have to do is open up His Word! Thankful for EVERY action of love He shows us – the most precious of these being the cross Christ suffered for our sakes. Praying others would see His light & come to know Him as Savior!
