Have you ever really sat down and thought about everything that God does for you?
He actively moves in our lives, yet we scarcely notice, let alone give Him credit. One of the greatest privileges we have is that we get to have a personal relationship with God. If I look closely at my relationship with God, it feels very one way to be honest. God does most of the work!
When it comes to relationships, you are probably accustomed to hearing “it takes two to tango” or “it’s a two-way street.” This does not apply to God. In every scenario, God is always the one who does all of the heavy lifting.
He constantly leads, listens, intervenes, and pursues.
When I need Him, He is there! In the last post, I started to talk about the some of the benefits that God showers upon us that is mentioned in Psalm 103. This time I want to touch on a few more “benefits” from God: satisfaction, justice, and redemption.
You can spend your whole life trying to find happiness and fulfillment by means of pursuing riches, fame, and approval of others. Even if you are able to reach for the stars, there will always be a void within your heart. We are so fixated on satisfying our flesh, but we always return to being hungry.
What we fail to realize is that temporal things will not bring satisfaction. Only eternal things will.
God is the only One who can truly satisfy us. Christ said that He is the bread of life and the living water. By having Him, you will never thirst or go hungry. He is the only One who can bring satisfaction to our souls! In His presence there is joy and pleasures forevermore.
Who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. | Psalm 103:5
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint. | Isaiah 40:31
I have some inside info for you: this world will suck the life out of you, and you will not notice until it is too late. The enemy wants to destroy you, and he will use any means to do it—especially subterfuge by using our desires against us. He wants to distract us from finding true joy by keeping our eyes off of Christ. Where Satan wants to crush and destroy, the Lord wants to create and build up! Lean on Him!
The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. | Psalm 103:6
I think it’s fair to say that we live in a seemingly unjust world. We see the atrocities that happen around the globe on a daily basis. Whether it’s innocent people caught in the crossfire of wars, the weak being bullied by the strong, or the most vulnerable of all being sold or murdered, there is constantly injustice screaming out.
When is someone going to pay the price?
When will we see justice served?
Technically, God brought justice in the most unjust manner by sending His innocent Son to take on the sins of the world. Our greatest oppressor was sin which condemned us all to eternity separated from God. We were on the track for destruction and hell, but everything changed on the cross! Now is the era of grace. Regardless of what you have done in your past, Christ has already bore it on the cross.
Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy. | Psalm 103:4
Christ redeemed us with His precious blood. When Christ paid the ultimate price to save us, He not only saved us from condemnation He made us His heirs for His kingdom! We get one on one access to the King of Kings! How incredible is that! No matter how “dirty” your past may be, Christ can redeem you and make you a new person by clothing you with HIS righteousness.
We who were nothing but dust are now made precious as gold!
With all of these “benefits,” what it ultimately boils down to is God’s Love. The undercurrent, the motivation, for all of these things that we receive from the Lord is because God loves us so much! In fact, He is Love! He is the Good Shepherd who gives His life for the sheep. He is the One who leaves the 99 to chase after the one lost lamb! Everything that the Lord does is out of love for you! Don’t go another day without experiencing this life-changing love of the Messiah.
