Jesus commands us:
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. | Matthew 28:19-20
We are sent to do the biggest mission given to God’s children. I’m not talking about guns blazing James Bond crime fighting action. I’m talking about being bold in our faith, stepping out of our comfort zones, telling our friends, our loved ones and people we don’t even know who Jesus Christ is and what His sacrifice means for us.
Ever since I moved to Texas I wanted to reclaim my faith and be even bolder in telling others about Jesus. So every time Ben and I go to a restaurant and we leave a tip; I write on the receipt “Thank You, Jesus Loves You & John 3:16.” Now I don’t say this to brag about what I do but to encourage you that a small act of obedience to God and His word goes a long way. I may not see the reaction of the waiter or waitress however, if I didn’t do my part to share with others about Jesus any chance I got why wouldn’t I take it?
Paul was a HUGE example in following this commandment. He labored for the churches God sent him too. He wanted to see God’s people stay in the fullness of Christ and share the gospel.
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. | Colossians 2:6-7
People will perish because they have not accepted Christ as their Savior, but that is not God’s ultimate desire for anyone. The call to tell the world about Christ is for every follower of Jesus Christ. We are called to tell as many people as possible how to get to heaven.
A couple weeks ago I wrote out a list of attributes in standing with the truth we call The Gospel. I wrote bearing fruit, grace, strength, endurance, peace, patience, joyful, suffering, rescue, redemption, forgiveness, worthy, citizenship, faith and hope. These characteristics of The Gospel bring about a redemption story. A redemption story that has no flaw BUT God’s glorious might. The gospel changes lives, transforms us from the inside out. It is meant for EVERYONE. However, not everyone wants to believe because they don’t see it. Let me tell you that it can be seen, it can be seen through our lives, our own redemption stories. Faith is the very existence of God and we need to share this infinite love with everyone we know. Don’t hold back friends, be bold, let your faith shine through and take that small step in obedience in making disciples of many nations.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. | John 3:16
