He Makes the Wind Blow

Do you believe in the power of God? Do you believe that God is the One who makes the world turn? Do you believe that He is completely, undeniably in control of it all?

More times than not, we don’t believe. We may claim that it’s difficult to believe in His power because we haven’t seen it on display, which couldn’t be further from the truth. If we think we haven’t witnessed God’s power, then sure, I can see how it would be hard for us to believe that He really is who He says He is. We are people who need proof. How much proof will we need, though?

Last week a dear sister told me something that her mom shared with her, which I haven’t been able to stop thinking about. One day her mom was standing in her back yard. She noticed how still everything was out there. There was no movement. Everything was at a complete halt. Nothing was happening. Then suddenly, before she knew it, a gust of wind blew through the yard. Just like that the stillness was interrupted. Her mom understood God’s power more clearly in that instance. God made the wind blow.

If you’re struggling with understanding why God has you in the place He has you right now, be encouraged! Though you feel as if God isn’t working or that He’s not hearing your prayers, you must choose to believe in Him and in His power. Our God tells the wind to blow. And as quick as the wind blows by, that’s how fast He can change things.

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand,
And marked off the heavens by the span,
And calculated the dust of the earth by the measure,
And weighed the mountains in a balance
And the hills in a pair of scales?
Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord,
Or as His counselor has informed Him?
With whom did He consult and who gave Him understanding?
And who taught Him in the path of justice and taught Him knowledge
And informed Him of the way of understanding? | Isaiah 40:12-14

There is no one like our God. He is all-sufficient within Himself. And this God, He delights in His children. Seek after Him. Seek after righteousness. Continue in faithfulness. Walk in a manner worthy of your calling as His child. And be ready to witness His power moment by moment. He is always at work.

For you, life may be at what seems to be a standstill, but don’t be confused; He makes the wind blow. He is surely in control.
