Day 26 | Psalm 13:5

Featured Artist: Rachel James

I was really needing direction. I didn’t know how to make a decision about the next step. Both options had pros and cons. They both seemed like good enough choices. But which choice would be best? All of the waiting was starting to get to me. I was running out of time, it seemed. I knew God was going to make it clear. But when would the clarity come? Day after day, doubts crept in.

Have I missed God’s will for my life?
Am I not doing enough?
Will I be stuck here forever?
Has God forgotten me?
Will He answer me?

David had some similar thoughts and feelings, though his circumstance was way more troubling than mine. His prayer is relatable when facing uncertainty:

Psalm 13

How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever?
How long will You hide Your face from me?
How long shall I take counsel in my soul,
Having sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?

Consider and answer me, O Lord my God;
Enlighten my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death,
And my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”
And my adversaries will rejoice when I am shaken.

But I have trusted in Your lovingkindness;
My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord,
Because He has dealt bountifully with me.

It’s clear that we all have a choice to make. But more than making the choice about life circumstances, we have to choose what we will believe in our hearts.

David chose well.

He was human just like the rest of us. He dealt with real struggles and real doubts. He wasn’t shy in being honest with God in exactly what was going on in his heart. But he chose to trust. No matter the doubts, no matter the questions, no matter the uncertainties – we have a choice to make. We can choose to doubt God and ignore that He’s always been faithful.

Or we can  c h o o s e  to trust Him
and  b e l i e v e  that His love is
worthy of our trust.

The choice to trust is easy when we know the One in whom we’re placing our trust.

Friends, will we choose to trust in His unfailing love today?
