We all have comforts. I love snuggling with my dog on the couch, where I feel safe and don’t have to talk to anyone or do anything difficult. However, I’m missing out on the adventure and goodness of God and His plans for me.
He has given us a greater purpose:
to proclaim His name.
So what does that look like? You can’t just say you believe and have faith but have no actions to back up your heart. My heart has been and is still going through a grand transformation. My heart is so in love with my Jesus that He is all I need—even among the suffering and pain this world gives. I have this incredible hunger to give back, to help others and to proclaim who my Jesus is. Everyone deserves to know this incredible love and gift that He so freely gives us.
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. | James 2:17
It’s in the little things.
For our new house, I got a doormat that says “Jesus Loves You,” so when folks pass by or visit they see the beautiful reminder that Jesus loves them so. Maybe I should order more from Amazon hehe! My husband would not approve.
Another little thing—I took a pumpkin pie to give to our new neighbors across the street. They were nervous and didn’t answer the door but will I let that discourage me? No! I will still continue to reach out and show neighborly love just like Jesus would. I want to be just like Him.
Love your neighbor as yourself, you are doing right. | James 2:8
Do you have that fire? Passion?
Overwhelming joy? To proclaim
what Jesus is doing in your life?
Are we getting out of our comforts and stepping into a life that is all about Jesus? Folks, it is not about us. It’s not that Jesus isn’t awesome. It’s not that his grace isn’t amazing. It’s not that the cross isn’t marvelous. But we won’t have eyes to see it until we’ve been displaced, until we’ve been knocked off the throne of our tiny self-kingdoms.
Let’s be like:
Abel, who brought God a better offering than Cain did. | Hebrews 11:4
Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. | Hebrews 11:7
Abraham, called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. | Hebrews 11:8
Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. | Hebrews 11:11
And there was Isaac and Jacob and Joseph and Moses and many others in the Hall of Faith.
Jesus, I want to be just like you.
I want to be on fire for you in every possible way. You are able! I believe, I have faith, I trust you! I want my life to completely reflect your life and your goodness. Give me the boldness to share with others about you. To be a woman worthy of the Hall of Faith. I am forever grateful for this incredible love and sacrifice that your life has given me. All Glory to you Jesus. I love you.
Never let the fire in your heart go out. Keep it alive. Serve the Lord. When you hope, be joyful. When you suffer, be patient. When you pray, be faithful. Share with God’s people who are in need. Welcome others into your homes. | Romans 12:11-13
