…all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble. | 1 Peter 5:5
It’d be a peculiar morning if we got up and out of bed and decided not to get dressed for the day. When it comes to choosing the perfect outfit for each day, there are a few different categories of people that we fall into.
Some of us prepare our outfits the night before so we don’t have to waste anytime in the morning choosing what would be best for that day. This group is prepared. They are ready to face the new morning and are absolutely not worried about their outfit because it’s already set out for them to slip into and go about their day.
Then there are those who throw on anything that is half-way decent. They don’t mind if their clothes are wrinkled or if they’re a bit smelly, they just throw them on and walk out the door. They have better things to worry about.
And lastly, there’s the group of people who spend every minute they have to spare in the morning to figure out what they’re going to wear until the very last second that they must walk out the door.
Maybe getting dressed shouldn’t be as big of a deal as it is to many, but there is wisdom in being intentional in what’s needed to be worn each day. It wouldn’t be wise to wear a tank top and a pair of shorts when it’s below 0 degrees out. Or conversely, it wouldn’t be the best idea to wear layers on top of layers on top of layers when its 100 degrees outdoors and the sun’s rays are shining down brightly.
Being prepared never hurts.
We have to be intentional.
We have to be thoughtful. We have to purpose in our hearts how we’ll clothe ourselves as each day comes. So, today, let’s clothe ourselves in humility.
Be intentional to put humility on. Choose to be humble. Choose to see Christ in all of His glory and choose to see yourself in light of Him.
When our eyes are on Christ,
our perspective is right.
When our eyes are on Christ, we strive to be what He’s made us to be. When our eyes are on Christ, we can be sure that we won’t be distracted by ourselves, we can be sure that He will give us enough grace to make it through the day.
When we clothe ourselves in humility, we can be assured that He will give us the needed grace for the day.
