…Despite the turmoil everywhere, He will not delay His help. | Psalm 46:5
Have you ever wondered, “What is going on?! Where is God’s help in this situation?”
In this verse, we see that God’s help is never delayed or “waiting around,” so to speak. So why is it that it can seem like help is nowhere to be found when struggles abound?
What do we expect “help” to look like? An immediate answer? An overwhelming feeling of serenity? A total change in circumstances? Sometimes God helps us in this way, but sometimes the better thing for us is help that looks much different.
Help can seem “delayed” when we are looking for help and peace in the wrong places. The Lord Jesus said,
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let it be afraid. | John 14:27
Peace is given to Christ’s disciples, but it doesn’t look like the peace the world gives. The world promises immediate results but gives distractions and disappointment. Hoping in the Lord brings true peace, even as trouble is everywhere.
God can do more in our

than in our own attempts
to help ourselves.
Whether the turmoil is a conflict in a relationship, uncertainty about the future, fear over political unrest, or anything else, God is not delaying His help.
Earnestly seek His face in the turmoil you are going through, and instead of asking for all distresses to disappear, ask to know Jesus Christ more through it. He will not delay what is truly helpful for you.
“If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed. If you look within, you’ll be depressed. If you look at Jesus, you’ll be at rest” | Corrie Ten Boom
